Rakesh is the founder and Chief Investment officer of Global Capital Strategies (GCS), with 28 years of experience in providing financial advice and 21 years as a Portfolio Manager. He is the portfolio manager for our Focus, Core, Disruptors, Equity Income, Dynamic ETF, and Bond portfolios. Further, Rakesh is the lead Portfolio Manager for strategies run for Avestar Capital clients’ that include the Gro’Stars, Val’Stars, Rev’Stars, and Global Thematic Portfolios. In managing money and creating financial plans for wealthy families and businesses, he works with other experts in their respective fields, to create and implement wealth planning strategies tailored to a client’s needs.
Prior to founding GCS, Rakesh was the Managing Principal and Portfolio Manager at Capital Strategies, an independent practice within Wells Fargo Advisors. His tenure in portfolio management began at RBC Wealth Management, as a Senior Vice President, where he began developing his investment strategies and client service principals. His investment acumen has benefited from his background in Mechanical Engineering, providing him with a solid understanding of technological aspects of products and organizations. As an engineer, he had worked at General Dynamics, Mazda, and Lear.
Rakesh’s education has spanned the globe, including Africa, India, Japan and the United States. His university studies were in Michigan, where he met his wife, who was a visiting student from Germany. All this has given him a unique global perspective. He holds Series 7, 24, 63, and 65 licenses. A father to a 15-year old son and a 11-year old daughter, he is a regular volunteer at their school in Florida. When he has some free time, he enjoys international travel, skiing and golf.
